Haus Müller / Aufgabe: Installation, Video / Typ: Auftrag / Ort: Basel, Schweiz / Jahr: 2007 / Grösse: 0.8 m2 / Auftraggeber: Lutz-Rainer Müller, Künstler / Status: realisiert / Projektteam: Johannes Feld, Georg Schmid / Der Künstler Lutz-Rainer Müller aus Leipzig wurde eingeladen an der Gruppenausstellung “Passages” des IAAB (Internationales Austausch- und Atelierprogramm Region Basel) teilzunehmen. Anstatt selbst anzureisen und seine Arbeiten auszustellen, suchte der Künstler nach einem anderen Weg um in der Ausstellung präsent zu sein: Er beauftragte F.A.B. ihm ein Wochenendhaus in den Ausstellungsraum zu bauen. Dieses Haus unterliegt keinen funktionalen oder baurechtlichen Zwängen, denn sein realer Kontext ist der Ausstellungsraum. Der Zufahrtsweg beginnt mit ein paar Treppenstufen und führt entlang einer bestehenden Stütze hoch hinauf zum abgelegenen Wochenendhaus mit Aussicht. Während dieses Aufstiegs erfährt der Weg - und damit sein Benutzer - eine Massstabsverkleinerung. Eine Videoinstallation im Eingangsbereich der Ausstellung zeigt die Ich-Perspektive des Bauherrn auf dem Weg zu seinem Haus und seine Ausblicke auf die Arbeiten der anderen Künstler. Der Besucher erhält so beim Betreten und Verlassen des Foyers eine Vor- resp. Rückschau auf die Ausstellung aus anderem Blickwinkel.

Instead of travelling to Basel and exhibiting his works, the artist was looking for a different way to be part of this exhibition: He hired F.A.B. to build for him a weekend home into the exhibition space. The house is freed of functional and legal restraints, as the exhibition space is its real context. The access road begins with a few steps and leads - along an existing pillar - up to to the remote weekend house with its view. The road - and therefore its user - is being scaled down on its way up. A video installation in the foyer of the exhibition is showing the first person perspektive of the builder-owner on the way to his house and his outlooks on the other artists's works. By entering or leaving the foyer the visitor gets to see a pre- and review of the exhibition from a different angle.
